RESIDENTIAL AND SUPPORT SERVICES
Independence, Inc. offers a variety of residential options and support services. Each plan of support is customized to meet the needs of the individuals, offering support and assistance in an environment of caring, teaching and growth.

"Intermediate Care Facilities" provide opportunities for growth, training and supervision on a twenty-four hour basis. This structured environment enables individuals to learn daily living skills that promote inclusion within their community. Specialized care is given to each individual based on their needs. Nursing services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychological treatment, psychiatric treatment, socialization skills, recreational activities and speech therapy are just a few of the specialties that are offered.

"Supported Living" provides opportunity for individuals to reside in a home/location of their choosing with support services based on the assessed needs of the individuals. Services range from 24 hours to several hours of service a day. The services are provided in the individuals' homes and may include the teaching of daily living skills, financial skills, accessing community resources and learning about recreational activities offered within their community.

"Community Living" offers individuals the opportunity to live independently with minimal supports. The hours of service may range from several hours a month to several hours a week. Individuals are able to maintain their independence and receive services based on identified needs that they have.

To qualify for services through Independence, an individual must be diagnosed with mental retardation or another developmental disability. This determination is made by a Service and Support Administrator/Specialist at the local County Board of MR/DD.
